When is reusing your existing Pixel worthwhile?

First check whether the employee can still work reliably with the existing device. A weak battery, faulty port or damaged display is not repaired by a new operating system. Define the intended period of use and record known hardware problems. Only then can you compare installation with buying a replacement.

Even an inexpensive used device can be the wrong purchase if its particular variant does not permit installation. Ask for the exact model designation and origin. A general statement such as 'SIM-unlocked' does not answer whether OEM unlocking is possible. Do not buy first and clarify this essential prerequisite only during setup.

You send your own Pixel to us at your expense. Return shipping is within Germany; Heligoland and Büsingen are excluded. The device may have a value of up to €2,500. After receipt, confirmed payment, clarified prerequisites and authorisation, we process the device and hand it to DHL within five business days: Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays at the processing location. Shipping transit times are additional. Unless you explicitly request an early start, we wait until the withdrawal period has expired.

Before shipping: secure access, not just copies of files

Plan the change outside a day when the phone is indispensable for customers, travel or approvals. A copy of your photos is of little help if the only access to business email is on the device you sent away. Write down which accounts use this phone as a second factor and how you can recover access to each during processing.

1. Back up required data and check a sample to ensure the backup can be opened.
2. Arrange approved alternative access for email, banking approvals, password managers and two-factor sign-ins.
3. Clarify SIM or eSIM recovery and a replacement phone for the intervening period.
4. Remove personal accounts, management locks and physical SIM cards according to the shipping instructions.
5. Do not include passwords, PINs or recovery keys.

How to approve the device for everyday work

After the device is returned, you set up your accounts and apps yourself. Use a short acceptance checklist rather than the vague goal that 'everything works': a business call, an email with an attachment, a calendar invitation, the necessary approval app and document storage. Also record which functions are deliberately not configured. An omitted private account will then not later be mistaken for a fault.

Test a complete process including notification, login and completion. At work, a missing message often becomes apparent only when a customer follows up. Involve the person who will use the device and have them carry out the process themselves. If a necessary step remains unresolved, postpone approval for productive work.

Set a date for the first follow-up check and name someone responsible for updates, accounts and loss reports. Buying a one-off installation does not replace this responsibility. Internally document only the necessary device and approval information; personal passwords do not belong in a shared device list.

Calculate the costs and order the appropriate option

For an existing Pixel, allow for the installation price, shipping to us, a temporary replacement device and your own preparation time. For a new device, add its purchase price and the costs named in the offer. In either case, someone needs time to set up personal accounts. Use the same intended period of use, otherwise you are comparing a short-term solution with a multi-year deployment.

For small teams, switching one device is a sensible starting point. Use it to test your process and carry over only the steps that have proved useful in your own business. This is decision guidance, not a claimed savings percentage. Value comes from choosing a device that performs your tasks and has clearly assigned support responsibilities.
